(Please note: This comment was submitted for Cook County Hospital Program before it merged with Loyola University/Providence Program) Although abortion training is not a formal part of our curriculum, residents can definitely do electives to learn suction and surgical abortion with the OB/GYN department at Cook County. Also, there are plans in the works to expand our curriculum to include medical and vacuum abortion in our community health centers, though when this will begin is impossible to predict. We did have an inservice recently on medical abortion, and the atmosphere here is definitely pro-choice.
We are merging with Loyola Provident FP starting 7/1/03, and I'm not sure how this will affect things, so keep checking in!
